Out and About service
Out and About is a flexible door to door Dial-a-Ride service that takes up to four people from their home to anywhere in the districts of Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Malling, Sevenoaks and Maidstone districts.
The service is run with a wheelchair accessible vehicle in each area, and our experienced drivers can give passengers all the assistance they need.
The service is open to those without their own private car, and who find public transport difficult. This might be because of age, disability or medical condition, or because they live in an isolated part of the borough far from regular bus routes. Eligible passengers can travel with two other friends or family members on the same journey. The vehicle has space for one additional passenger to travel in their wheelchair if required.
Our drivers will pick-up from anywhere in the districts and will take passengers to their destination in the same district. The services run Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm but do not operate on Bank Holidays.
Each single journey costs £2.00 covering the first two miles, with additional miles charged at £1.00 per mile. If passengers require a return journey, this will be charged separately. Up to four people can travel together at no extra charge. Our driver may be able to wait for short visits, at a charge of £2 per 30 minutes. The full cost of each journey is confirmed at the time of booking, with payment made to the driver.
Bookings can be made by calling 01892 832447 between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Journeys can be booked up to seven days in advance and even earlier for hospital appointments. We’ll confirm what time our driver will pick the passenger up, and whether they require a return journey on the same day.
