Training centre
Our purpose-designed, fully accessible Training Centre in Paddock Wood in Kent provides a welcoming, social environment for learners every day.
Attendees include adults with physical and learning disabilities, those recovering from brain injuries including strokes, and other people on the autistic spectrum. Many of those attending have faced changes in their life, whether from disability, mental health issues or ageing. On site personal care can be provided for those who require this.
Each week, our Centre provides training and guidance in practical digital skills, so that service users are better able to live independently. They learn invaluable skills to harness the opportunities of the internet such as email and social media, with which they can build a network of support with family and friends. Using the internet, they can also search independently for goods and services, and purchase these directly, while also managing their finances and benefits online.
We continually refresh the opportunities on offer to keep up with developing technology, including printing systems and laser cutting. Support can be offered in Microsoft, Android and Apple devices and operating systems, with training in music creation, coding and game design. Attendees can also enjoy virtual reality experiences and active computer gaming. A list of some of the activities currently offered can be found here.
For maximum flexibility, sessions at the Centre are offered in half days or full days, with each session focusing on individual objectives. There is also the opportunity for group work and projects, and many learners have seen their creative work displayed in public exhibitions and publications.
Our Training Centre is located close to the heart of Paddock Wood, less than half a mile walk from rail and bus services and with plenty of car parking on site. We can also offer regular door to door transport for wheelchair users and others with mobility issues through our own Accessible Transport service.
